Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Introduces AI Body Measurement Technology "Bodygram" as a Lifestyle Improvement Service! Supporting Policyholders with Daily Body Shape Management to Improve Health Checkup Results
Bodygram Inc. (Headquartered in Delaware, USA, CEO: Rei Aiba), the developer and provider of the AI-powered body measurement technology “Bodygram,” is pleased to announce that as of January 2023, “Bodygram” has been introduced into Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company’s (Headquarters: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideki Nagashima) exclusive service for policyholders called “Minna no Kenkatsu Service” (“Everyone’s Health Support Service”). As part of the company’s ongoing health support efforts for customers who have enrolled in their insurance products, “Bodygram” enables easy daily body shape management via smartphone to help maintain health and improve health checkup results.
Bodygram is a cutting-edge AI solution that uses artificial intelligence learning to estimate the size of various body parts. By simply inputting your age, height, weight, and gender, and taking two photos—front and side—while fully clothed using a smartphone, the system automatically detects the subject’s body line. This enables full-body scanning, including measurements such as waist, shoulder width, and thighs. It is a technology used in both B2B and B2C sectors that continues to evolve daily. Since its founding in 2019, Bodygram has been primarily used in B2B businesses such as uniforms, department stores, and other areas within the apparel industry. It has also expanded into bedding and healthcare services. Recently, with rising interest in health data digital transformation and personal health records, demand for Bodygram as a healthcare tool supporting better health in the age of 100-year lifespans is rapidly increasing.
Background of Bodygram’s Introduction into Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance’s “Minna no Kenkatsu Service”
Since 2019, Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance has been actively promoting the “Minna no Kenkatsu Project” (*1), an initiative to support customers in maintaining and improving their health. As part of this, in April 2019, the company launched “Best Style Health Cashback” (*2), a program that supports health improvement efforts by offering cashback up to the equivalent of one month's premium based on the results of policyholders’ health checkups.
Now, starting January 2023, in an effort to support improvement in the health checkup result categories (*3) used to determine cashback amounts, three new healthcare services aimed at improving lifestyle habits have been added to the “Minna no Kenkatsu Service.” As one of these services, Bodygram was introduced as a digital solution that enables easy body shape management with a focus on improving BMI.

- “Best Style Health Cashback” is the name used when the “Health Support Cashback Rider (2021)” is added to the “Best Style” insurance product.
- Eligibility for cashback is determined by the results of BMI, blood pressure, urinalysis, and blood test.
By downloading Meiji Yasuda Life’s “MY Hoken App,” policyholders can instantly capture 12 body measurements (neck, shoulder width, upper arm, bust, underbust, waist, hips, waist via navel, inseam, thigh, mid-thigh, and calf circumference). In addition, body composition (body fat and skeletal muscle mass) and posture analysis can also be done—all with just a smartphone. Since managing body shape requires ongoing effort, regular measurements can help track your physical condition, providing insights into whether body shape improvements are needed and motivating continued maintenance.
